JINAN, East China, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese swimmer Cai Li bagged the men's 50m freestyle gold here on Thursday at the Chinese National Games.
Cai, bronze medalist of the Doha Asian Games, swam 22.25 to lead the final, merely edging runner-up You Tianyu from Jiangsu province and third-placed Huang Shaohua from Guangxi autonomous region, who clocked 22.29 and 22.31.
The world record of the event stands at 21.95.
So far, one world record and ten Asian records have been established in the eight-day swimming competitions of the National Games, which drew a record of 525 swimmers from China's 24 provincial teams, Hong Kong, and the Chinese Army.
