JINAN, East China, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) ¨C- Former Chinese football team captain Fan Zhiyi, who is in Jinan for the 11th National Games, ended his trip as coach of Shanghai men's U16 squad and remains uncertain for future.
After losing to Liaoning 1-3 Thursday, his team missed the semifinals at the national meet.
"I am to blame for the failure, " he said. "In fact, this was the best ever match we had here in Jinan."
After a Chinese tycoon Carson Yeung from Hong Kong took over English premier league side Birmingham City, it was rumored that Fan would be invited to coach the club.
"I've got the invitation, but I have not prepared for it yet," he said.
