Pakistani leaders strongly condemn E Pakistan suicide attack

    ISLAMABAD, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday strongly condemned the attack at a check post in the eastern Punjab province.

    In their separate messages, the two leaders condemned the terrorist attack and vowed to foil the attempts of such elements.

    They said that the government will not be deterred with such cowardly acts and vowed not to rest till the elimination of extremists and terrorists.

    At least seven persons were killed and 12 others were wounded Friday morning in a car bombing at a security check post in the Attock district of Punjab, according to local TV reports.

    The private Express TV quoted Attock police chief Fakhar Sultanas saying that a suicide bomber blew himself near the Kamra Aeronautical Complex at the G.T. Road in Attock.

    Sultan confirmed that at least two security officials were among the killed. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospital.

    Police have cordoned off the area and about eight to ten people were arrested in the search operation after the attack.
