BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- A report released by IBM Corporation here Wednesday showed that Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in greater China region have less budget restrictions compared with global peers and are more aggressive in spending budget to create innovative plans.

CIOs in greater China region are more active in innovation and turning visions into reality, said Bernard Elharrar, General Manager of Global Technology Services, IBM Greater China Group.

"However, CIOs in greater China region need to address deep gaps in outsourcing and standardizing business process," he added.

The report is on the basis of interviews with more than 2,500 CIOs of different-sized organizations in 19 industries from 78 countries around the globe, in a bid to understand their goals and challenges.

Some 32 percent of the interviewees are from rapidly developing markets, according to the report.

One benefit of speaking with such a large and diverse group of CIOs around the world is the opportunity to share their practical advice and success stories, said Patrick Toole, IBM's Vice President and CIO, adding "as CIOs, we are responsible for both business and technology leadership."
