Honduras' Radio Globo returns broadcasting

    TEGUCIGALPA, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Honduran local radio station Radio Globo broadcasted again on Monday after being closed22 days ago by the de facto government.

    Radio Globo was closed according to a decree issued by the de facto government, which suspended the Constitutionals guaranties in the country, and which was canceled 18 days ago by the Honduran Council of Ministers.

    "We feel like a child with new toy," Radio Globo's news presenter Gustavo Blanco said when restarting broadcasting.

    Radio Globo restarted broadcasting at 11:00 a.m (1700 GMT) on Monday with the Honduran national hymn and thanking words from its owner Alejandro Villatoro.

    Villatoro said "today is a day of joy for the people" because Radio Globo's signal has returned to air.

    In that occasion also TV channel Canal 36 was closed, and its broadcasting continues out of signal.

    "We are returning, the death one has to revive," Villatoro said.

    During the closure of Radio Globo, the station broadcasted by Internet, achieving a large audience and also doing connection with other local radio stations like Gualcho Radio.

    Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya said from the Brazilian embassy in Tegucigalpa, where he is staying, that "I am happy with the Honduran people, today is a day of party, I wish they (de facto government) returns to Radio Glob and Canal 36 the equipment they seized."
