CAIRO, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Africa roared and 10-men Ghana became the first African nation to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt after edging out Brazil 4-3 through penalty shootout.

Ghana lost central defender Daniel Addo to a harsh red card in the 37th minute, and with the Ghanaians laboring to settle in the game dominated by the South Americans, the victors held on through another 30-minute extra time.

On a day that Jonathan Mensah and Bright Addea missed from the spot, it was goalkeeper Daniel Agyei whose talent magnified when he saved twice from the Samba Boys, to compliment Andre Ayew, Dominic Adiyiah, and Samuel Inkoom, before Emmanuel Agyeman Badu converted the last kick to hand the West African's a first global title in the competition.

It was a game of scanty chances, but abundant for Brazil who dictated the pace and had Agyei standing between them and goal as early as the third minute, when the lanky Ghanaian youngster pulled a save to keep the Satellites in the game.

The 68,814 packed arena supported Ghana throughout the game.
