VIENNA, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Austrian Ministry of Health signed a contract with Baxter on Wednesday for the delivery of A/H1N1 vaccine "Celvapan", according to the Austria Press Agency (APA).

An initial supply of at least 500,000 tins will be carried out starting October 20. Austria expects a total demand of up to 16 million doses.

The current population of Austria is about 8.35 million.

As from October 27, the voluntary vaccination of the healthy persons will begin. It will be followed by the rest of the population from November 9, focusing on the chronically ill and pregnant women.

The cost of the vaccination will be paid by health insurance, and people only have to pay the prescription.
