BEIRUT, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Michael Williams said on Thursday that Israeli footage of the Hezbollah official's home blast is a "clear violation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701."
Williams told the local LBC television that the Lebanese Armed Forces and UN Interim Forces in Lebanon had launched an investigation into the incident, highlighting it is still unknown if there had been weapons in the house.
He also stressed that Israeli flights over Lebanon are a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and of Resolution 1701 which ended the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in the summer of 2006.
The Israeli military released a footage from one of its drones on Tuesday, allegedly showing Hezbollah members recovering dozens of rockets from a home that was hit by an explosion in southern Lebanon the day before.
On Monday night, an explosion rocked the house of Hezbollah official Abdel Nasser Issa's home in the village of Tayr Felsay, some 20 km east of the Tyre city in south Lebanon.
Lebanese Shiite armed group Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said Thursday the Israeli film of Hezbollah official's home blast was a "real attack on Lebanon," the local Now Lebanon news reported on its website.
Qassem said the Israelis themselves admitted they had sent a drone and filmed the footage, adding that Israel's action is a violation of Lebanese airspace and of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Qassem called on the Lebanese Foreign Ministry to use this film to call on the international community to "punish Israel."
Israel said the blast proved the presence of unauthorized arms in south Lebanon, which is banned by UN Resolution 1701. It has repeatedly accused Hezbollah of stockpiling arms.
However, Hezbollah's spokesperson Ibrahim Moussawi on Wednesday denied the Israeli footage, saying that it was purely fabricated and a propaganda war of Israel against Hezbollah.
Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV reported on Thursday that the supposed rockets are only the metal shutters at the place where the explosion happened.
