RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Cruzeiro took their second consecutive victory as they beat cross-town rivals Atletico-MG 1-0in the 29th round of Brazilian soccer championship.

    An Atletico-MG turnover gave Cruzeiro's Fabricio a chance to pass the ball off to a streaking Thiago Ribeiro.

    Dribbling the ball down to the right corner, Ribeiro crossed the ball to Wellington Paulista who arrived in time to head the ball into the back of the Atletico-MG net at the 11 minute.

    Cruzeiro's victory takes them to 7th place with 42 points. Atletico-MG' s loss keeps them at 47 points in 4th place, the last spot for a direct qualification for the 2010 Libertadores Cup.

    In the 30th round, Cruzeiro will host Botafogo on October 18. Atletico-MG will travel to play Sao Paulo on the same day.
