MOSCOW, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The ruling United Russia party has dominated the elections to the Moscow City Duma, as well as regional and municipal elections across the country, electoral officials said on Monday.
Almost 90 percent of votes have been counted in the Moscow elections, said the Moscow City Election Committee, with only the United Russia party and the Communist Party hopeful to pass the 7 percent threshold to procure seats in the 35-member city assembly.
With turnout in Sunday's Moscow election at 34.72 percent, the United Russia party led by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin gained 66.10 percent of the vote, and the Communist Party garnered 13.28 percent, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
The ruling party also managed to sweep other regional and municipal elections across Russia.
Its candidates are expected to procure 32 out of 35 seats in the Irkutsk city assembly, and to win in several regional and mayoral polls.
