RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Cimed men's club volleyball team won the South American volleyball championship in the southern Brazilian city of Florianopolis on Sunday.
The Brazilian club beat Brasil Volei Clube 25-19, 15-25, 26-24, 19-25 and 15-13.
"It was a tough match," said Cimed's head coach Marcos Pacheco." Brasil Volei Clube played very well and had excellent control of the game for a majority of the time. However, with some minor adjustments, we were able to pull out a win."
Cimed's win in the South American volleyball championship guaranteed their participation in the World Club Championship.
The World Championship will take place in November in Qatar. Cimed will make up part of Group B, competing with PGE Belchatow (Poland), Payakan (Iran) and Al-Arabi from Qatar.
