SINGAPORE, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations (UN) and Interpol, the world's largest international police organization, agreed here on Sunday to promote state stability, and global law and order.

According to local TV broadcaster Channel News Asia, the two international agencies signed a formal agreement at the Interpol-UN Ministerial meeting which is being held in Singapore.

Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng said that by entering into the partnership, Interpol brings with it the backing of 187 member countries and their collective experience and resources, while the UN on its part is well placed to identify the challenges civilian police would face and the resources needed to better equip them.
