BANGKOK, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) held a meeting on Friday morning to discuss security measures to ensure security at the forthcoming ASEAN Summit's venues.
The ISOC meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and was attended by the country's security top leaders, has agreed to deploy 18,000 security personnel to maintain law and order at the Summit and related meetings' venues, Thai News Agency reported.
The meeting has also approved the establishment of a security command center to facilitate the security operation at the Summit venues.
Meanwhile, according to intelligence reports, it is found that some three groups, including the political, civic and academic network, will make a movement during the Summit.
But, there is no intelligence report that indicates there will be any overseas group to travel to Thailand to make a movement during the 15th ASEAN Summit.
The government will also monitor anti-government rallies in Bangkok, while they can organize a peaceful protest and abide by the law.
Both the red-shirted and yellow-shirted groups have planned to host several mass rallies in capital Bangkok in this month.
Thailand, which is the 2009 chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), will host the 15th ASEAN Summit and related meetings during Oct. 23-25 in southern beach resort town Cha-am and Hua Hin.
