KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's Drug Control Authority (DCA) has banned the use of Senna Plus Capsule 400mg as it failed scheduled poison sibutramine detection, a local newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Senna Plus Capsule 400mg contains sibutramine, which has tested to have serious side-effects such as high blood pressure and cardiovascular problems, reported the New Straits Times.
The Health Ministry said in a statement that the public should not use the product registered to Winson Health Product Marketing and manufactured by TST Packaging Sdn Bhd.
The DCA suggested users should consult a doctor before applying to products containing sibutramine.
The agency urged anyone in possession of the product to immediately cease selling, distributing or using them.
According to the newspaper, possession of the product is an offense under the Control Of Drugs And Cosmetics Regulations 1984 which carries a maximum fine of 25,000 ringgit (some 7143 U.S. dollars) or imprisonment not exceeding three years, or both.
