    PYONGYANG, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived here Sunday for a three-day visit and was greeted at the airport by Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

    The Chinese premier arrived at Sunan Airport at around 10:30 a.m. local time (0130 GMT).

    He was also met at the airport by Kim Yong Nam, president of the presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, and DPRK Premier Kim Yong Il.

    From the airport, Wen headed to the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, where he paid tribute to late DPRK President Kim Il Sung.

    Wen, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau, will meet and hold talks with DPRK leaders on bilateral relations and other issues of common concern, China's Foreign Ministry said.

    He will also attend commemorative events of the China-DPRK Friendship Year, which coincides with the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.

    Wen is here at the invitation of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee and the DPRK government.

Chinese premier meets DPRK counterpart

    PYONGYANG, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held talks with his Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) counterpart Kim Yong Il here Sunday afternoon.

    Wen arrived in Pyongyang this morning for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee and the DPRK government.
