COLOMBO, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan police said that they nabbed a senior Tamil Tiger rebel and a boat which supplied fuel to the rebels, police sources said on Thursday.
The arrest was made on Wednesday in the northern district of Mannar. Several other arms and equipment were also seized, the police said.
The boat had supplied fuel to the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Another fuel carrying boat is believed to have been buried, said the police.
The LTTE was defeated in May ending its three-decade-old separatist campaign.
The government is now engaged in tracing senior LTTE members who are among the near 300,000 internally displaced persons living in government maintained camps in the north.
