HAVANA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Cuban President of the National Assembly of People's Power (CNAPP) Ricardo Alarcon met with visiting Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet here on Monday.

"We will always be on the side of Jose Marti's homeland to cope with all challenges," Triet said during the meeting. The president also invited Alarcon to visit Hanoi in a bid to strengthen legislative ties between the two countries.

Alacron said it would be a honor for him to visit Ho Chi Minh's homeland again.

The Vietnamese parliament has provided aid to Cuba after the island country was lashed by three hurricanes in 2008.

On Sunday, Triet met with his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro.
