BERLIN, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin on Monday dismissed its Lucien Favre after Hertha was defeated 1-5 at "village club" Hoffenheim on Sunday.
Favre moved in 2007 from FC Zurich to Hertha Berlin and was under contract until 2011. After six defeats in row Hertha crashed on last position of Bundesliga table with only three points.
What's worse, Berlin was eliminated in second round of German Cup by second division team 1860 Munich. In addition, the poor performance delivered against Latvian club FK Ventspils (1-1) in European League. The Hertha management thus decided to take action.
The club management on Monday informed Lucien Favre of their decision.
"The trainer team was relieved from their duties with immediately effectiveness," the club announced.
Carsten Heine, who coached Herthas U23, will serve as Hertha interim coach.
