BEIJING, Sept. 28 -- A 5-year-old pet dog rescued its master, a 70-year-old woman, after she suffered a major heart attack in her home.

The dog, kept by a family in Anshan, Liaoning province, heard the sound of heavy breathing from the grandmother's room one night and hurried to her aide where she was seen with her hands over her chest , sweating profusely but unable to speak a word.

The dog then ran throughout the house, barking loudly at other family members and scratching at doors until someone woke up and administered the grandmother medicine.

Had it not been for the dog, she would not have survived, a doctor said later.
