HONG KONG, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong reported Friday another fatal case of the Influenza A/H1N1, bringing to 21 the total number of fatal cases of the new flu in the city.
Hong Kong's Yan Chai Hospital spokesperson said that a 66 year-old male patient with diabetes mellitus, hypertension and angina presented mild upper respiratory symptoms on Sept. 21, and attended the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital on Sept. 22 due to Ischaemic Heart Disease and was admitted for medical treatment.
His condition deteriorated and was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit on Sept. 23. The patient was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics, he required ventilation support and had been in critical condition.
Positive result of Influenza A/H1N1 was confirmed on Sept. 24. His condition was further deteriorated and succumbed at 5.26 a.m. Sunday.
The case has been reported to Hospital Authority Head Office and Center for Health Protection.
