BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Leaders from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will hold their second meeting in Beijing on Oct. 10, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said here Thursday.

Ahead of the summit, foreign ministers of the three countries will meet in Shanghai next Monday to discuss the current and future cooperation, regional and international issues, and pave the way for the leaders' summit, Jiang said.

Jiang said the foreign chiefs' meeting is significant as this year marks the 10th anniversary of launching of a trilateral cooperative scheme between China, Japan and the ROK.

"We expect the meeting to exchange views on charting the path for future cooperation and prepare for the leaders' summit," Jiang said, emphasizing the stronger trilateral relations and deeper East Asian cooperation.

The first tripartite summit between China, Japan and the ROK was held in Fukuoka, Japan on Dec. 13 of 2008.
