MOSUL, Iraq, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and a policeman was wounded in separate incidents in Iraq's volatile northern province of Nineveh Wednesday, a provincial police source said.
Three Iraqi Army soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb explosion near their patrol at the village of Tal-Zalat, some 30 km northeast of the provincial capital city of Mosul, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Another roadside bomb in Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad, went off near a police patrol in the western al-Yarmouk district, killing a policeman and wounding another, the source said.
In eastern Mosul, police found a body of a slaughtered man inside his house in the al-Zahraa neighborhood, the source added.
Nineveh province remains one of Iraq's most volatile areas despite the dramatic drop of violence in the country over the past two years.
