BEIJING, Sept. 23 -- China Central Television 1
(CCTV-1) will unveil a revamped channel Monday. Programs will broadcast in high
definition and the schedule will be adjusted.
A total of 12 shows will be dropped from the lineup
and six new ones will be added.
Some top shows will move from CCTV-3 to CCTV-1: Art
Life (Yishu Rensheng) hosted by Zhu Jun and Quiz Show (Kaixin Cidian) hosted by
Wang Xiaoya will be shown every Saturday afternoon. Very 6+1 (Feichang 6+1)
hosted by Li Yong will be shown every Sunday afternoon.
The change in schedule of the three programs will
begin from the second weekend in October. Other shows, such as Inter Cities
produced by CCTV Sports Programming Centre, Wisdom Tree (Zhihui Shu) aimed at
children and originally aired on CCTV-7, Happy Studio (Kuaile Yizhan) from CCTV-
3 and CCTV-10's popular Storyand Exploring will be moved to CCTV-1 as well.
Tell It Like It Is, Zhengda Variety Show and Half the
Sky will be dropped by CCTV-1.
CCTV News (Xinwen Lianbo) and Topics in Focus
(Jiaodian Fangtan) will continue to be broadcast at 7pm.
The new CCTV-1 will also add a live 20-minute
breaking news segment at 3pm every day. Two episodes of TV series will air each
day during nonprimetime hours.
According to Jiang Heping, executive director of CCTV
Sports Programming Center, sports programming will also be improved.
Four major sporting events in 2010 will be broadcast
live by the network, including the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, FIFA
World Cup in South Africa, Singapore Youth Olympic Games and Guangzhou Asian
Games.
