This was Baldwin's second consecutive U.S. top TV award.

Meanwhile, Toni Collette was named outstanding comedy actress for playing a woman with multiple personalities on "United States of Tara."

It was "the greatest job I'll ever have," Baldwin said, referring to "30 Rock."

He heaped praise on the show's executive producer, Lorne Michaels.

"It's great when you have a producer, someone who believes in you, in your corner, who hires you and thinks of you in good weather and in bad weather," Baldwin said while accepting his award at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

"And that person for me is Lorne Michaels, and I would like to especially dedicate this to Lorne Michaels, who is the greatest boss you could ever have, and who has believed in me for all these years, and I love you, Lorne."

For Collette, the win was her first Emmy. Her only other nomination was in 2007 for a supporting role in the made-for-television movie "Tsunami, The Aftermath."

Kristin Chenoweth took home the Emmy for best supporting comedy actress for her role as waitress Olive Snook on the now-canceled ABC series "Pushing Daisies." Chenoweth made it clear to the audience that with her show canceled, she was looking for work.

"I'm not employed now so I'd like to be on `Mad Men,'" she joked. "And I also like 'The Office' and '24'."

Jon Cryer was named best supporting comedy actor for his role opposite Charlie Sheen on the highly rated CBS series "Two and a Half Men."

"I used to think that awards were just shallow tokens of momentary popularity, but now I realize they are the only true measure of a person's worth as a human being," he said while accepting the award.

Jeff Probst won the Emmy for best reality show host for his work on CBS' "Survivor."

The CBS show "The Amazing Race," meanwhile, continued its Emmy night dominance, winning its seventh straight award for outstanding reality-competition program.
