QUITO, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador's President Rafael Correa has been
diagnosed of fibrosis in the joint of one of his knees after a medical check-up
in Havana, said the president's office on Friday.
Correa traveled to Havana on Tuesday for a surgery in his right knee at the
Cuban International Orthopedic Scientific Center, according to the president's
website.
An Ecuadorian military doctor, Colonel Francisco Torres, said the Cuban
doctors found joint fibrosis, injures in both meniscus, chondromalacia and
osteochondritis. a
"The joint is prepared for a chondral graft, which will be donein about six
to eight weeks," he said
It is expected that Correa would travel this weekend to Cuba again.
Correa has visited Cuba three times already in 2009. The first one, at the
beginning of the year, was an official visit.
