Children with cleft palate who are about to undergo plastic surgeries pose for a group photo with their parents and doctors in Nanning, southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Sept. 17, 2009. Twenty plastic surgeons from home and abroad began their visit in Nanning on Thursday to perform plastic surgeries for 100 local children with cleft palate during the medical charity project "Smile China". Founded in 2001 by Canada-born Chinese plastic surgeon Joseph K. Wong, the project has been offering free treatment around China to children whose families are too poor to afford the operation. Thanks to the project, about 600 children underwent corrective surgeries for free in China up to now. (Xinhua/Chen Fei)
