CARACAS, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday urged Venezuelans to get ready for earthquake risks.
"We are going to get ready to react like yesterday. Fortunately nothing happened," Chavez said during his TV/radio program "Alo, presidente," referring to an earthquake measuring 6.2 degrees on the Richter scale that shook the center and south of the country Saturday.
The quake injured 18 people but caused no death, according to official information.
The epicenter was about 28 km northeast to Moron off the Carabobo state coast, less than 200 km to the country's capital.
"I was at the president's office (when the earthquake shook), and all the wooden floor cracked," Chavez recalled.
Meanwhile, the Venezuelan Foundation of Seismologic Investigations reported Sunday that there have been some 29 aftershocks following Saturday's earthquake.
