    DALIAN, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the 2009 Summer Davos forum, held in the northeastern China's port city Dalian on Thursday afternoon.

    The three-day forum, also known as the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2009, has attracted some 1,400 participants from 86 countries and regions, including business elites and senior officials, who are to discuss topics about the theme of "Relaunching Growth" amid the global economic downturn.

China curbs downward trend in economic growth: Premier

   DALIAN, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China has curbed the downward trend in economic growth and the country's macro-economic policy and economic stimulus package proved timely, powerful and effective, Premier Wen Jiabao said Thursday.

   Wen made the remarks in a speech delivered at the opening ceremony of the 2009 Summer Davos held in north China's port city Dalian. The three-day summit, also known as the Annual Meeting of New Champions 2009 under the World Economic Forum, attracted about 1,400 business leaders and policy makers from 86 countries and regions.  Full story
