HONG KONG, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Tuen Mun
Hospital announced Sunday that a female patient who had been infected with
Influenza A/H1N1 virus died in the hospital on the same day.
The 43-year-old patient, who was a chronic smoker,
developed flu symptoms on Aug. 23 and attended the Designated Flu Clinic on Aug.
24. The patient attended the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital
on Aug. 26 and was admitted to the Isolation Ward, according to a statement from
the hospital.
On Aug. 26, the patient was tested positive for
Influenza A/ H1N1 virus. She received Tamiflu, Relenza and antibiotics
treatment. With her condition deteriorating, she was transferred to Intensive
Care Unit on the same day.
The patient was in critical condition requiring
ventilation support. Her condition continued to deteriorate and convalescent
serum was given on Aug. 29. The patient was succumbed at 00:17 a.m. Sunday.
The case was reported to Hospital Authority Head
Office and Center for Health Protection. The hospital has informed her family
and will refer the case to Coroner, says the statement.
