KHOST, Afghanistan, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Afghan Troops backed by the U.S.-led Coalition Forces in an operation begun Saturday night eliminated nearly three dozens of Taliban insurgents in remote area of Khost province in eastern Afghanistan, provincial police chief said on Sunday.
"Joint forces launched an operation against Taliban militants in Sapera district from Saturday night till Sunday morning, during which 35 militants have been killed," Abdul Qaum Baqizoi told Xinhua.
Baqizoi also added that the joint forces discovered rifle assaults, ammunition and some food staff in the militants' hide out.
There were no causalities on Afghan and coalition troops, he noted.
Taliban militants fighting Afghan and international troops have yet to make comments.
Over 100,000 international troops, some 68,000 of them Americans, have been deployed in the post-Taliban country to help Afghan security forces to bring peace and stability.
