BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- A girl being kidnapped when she was at age 11 has been found alive after eighteen years and has reunited with her family members after police arrested her accused abductor, according to news reports on Friday.

No one had any ideas where the girl Jaycee Dugard was except a couple that dragged her off a street in front of her house into a car on her way to the bus stop in South Lake Tahoe, California, in 1991.

The police could find no trace of the car, or Ms. Dugard, a blonde haired, blue-eyed girl last seen wearing a pink windbreaker and pink stretch pants.

Dugard, now 29, was found after a parole officer for her accused kidnapper became suspicious, leading to a search of his home near the town of Antioch, California, about 100 miles southwest of where she was abducted.

The couple Phillip and Nancy Garrido's backyard in Antioch was so overgrown that no one even knew it existed.

Dugard lived for several years by herself in the shed, flanked by two tents. The shed was locked from the outside. "She was in good health but living in a backyard for 18 years must take its toll," El Dorado County Under sheriff Fred Kollar said in a news conference.

Carl Probyn, Dugard's stepfather, said on television he and her mother "cried for about 10 minutes" after they were told by authorities that she had been found alive.
