ANKARA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Foreign Minister
Ahmet Davutoglu said Thursday that Turkey and Romania will promote economic
cooperation in the Black Sea region.
The two countries were determined to turn the Black
Sea region into one of the most powerful and developed economic basins in the
world, Davutoglu said.
Speaking at a joint press conference following
official talks with his Romanian counterpart Cristian Diaconescu in the Turkish
capital of Ankara, Davutoglu said Turkey and Romania are two important countries
in Black Sea region, adding that both countries have made efforts to achieve
security and stability in the region.
Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner
Yildiz and State Minister Zafer Caglayan would pay visits to Romania in
September and October in an effort to improve the bilateral economic and
political relations, according to Davutoglu.
He said that ways to improve the economic cooperation
in the Black Sea region were on the agenda of his talks with Diaconescu.
For his part, Diaconescu said that Turkey was the
biggest commercial partner of Romania after the European Union (EU).
Emphasizing his country's support to Turkey's EU bid,
Diaconescu said Turkey was an important country both for the Black Sea and
Caucasus regions.
The peace process in the Middle East,
Afghanistan-Pakistan relations and Iraq issue were also discussed during their
talks, Diaconescu said.
