BAGHDAD, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- One civilian was killed and 17 others injured
in a car bomb and two bomb explosions in Baghdad, a well-informed police source
said on Thursday.
A car bomb which parked near a parking lot at the entrance of Baghdad's
northern suburb of Taji detonated on Thursday morning, killing a civilian and
wounding five others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The blast destroyed several nearby vehicles, the source added.
Separately, two explosive charges planted in two civilian cars detonated
late on Wednesday on a thoroughfare in Baghdad's northern neighborhood of
Adhamiyah, wounding a total of 12 people and damaging several nearby shops, the
source added.
Sporadic attacks continue in Baghdad as part of recent deterioration in
security which shaped a setback to the efforts of the Iraqi government to
restore normalcy in the capital after nearly two months of U.S. troops pullout
of cities and towns.
