HAVANA, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Dominican President Leonel Fernandez urged the international community on Wednesday to push harder on the de facto Honduran government, news reports from the Dominican capital Santo Domingo said.

The de facto Honduran government should be suspended from the Free Trade Agreement signed between the United States, Central America and the Dominican Republic, news reports quoted Fernandezas speaking at a conference with Central American parliamentarians.

Fernandez said the measures could make the "coup-mongers" back off, after foreign ministers of the Organization of American States failed to have them sign the San Jose Agreement Tuesday.

Fernandez, who has spoken at the Rio Group meetings and many other regional forums, has been very active in calling for forging a common position against the coup, which ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya on June 28.
