ATHENS, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Greek General Secretariat of Information is
planning to open a new Communication Office in Shanghai in September in a bid to
further strengthen the growing relations between China and Greece, a local
official said on Wednesday.
Panos Livadas, Greek secretary general of information, told Xinhua on
Wednesday that Greece has long presence of Communication Office in Beijing for
many years.
Livadas said that the Communication Office in Beijing has done magnificent
job for both countries. It helps introduce Olympic Games and achievement in
Greece abroad and also helps transmission of images from China to Greek people
and media.
However, Livadas said that "China is a big country and economic development
is so fast, so as the relationship between Greece and China in areas of maritime
industry, transportations, in our ports, in our tourism industry and in our
international relations."
Livadas said the World Expo in Shanghai 2010 will be another step in the
momentum between Greece and China after the Olympic Games.
"That's why we want to have a new office now in Shanghai and I believe the
new office will do useful jobs in this regard," said Livadas.
