VIENNA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Leaders of Austria and
the Czech Republic have expressed different views on energy security policy here
on Monday.
After a meeting between Austrian Chancellor Werner
Faymann and visiting transitional Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan
Fischer, the two leaders admitted their views on developing energy are divided.
Faymann admitted that the energy policy is "the
biggest difference over the years" between the two countries. He also criticized
Czech for expanding nuclear power plants, stressing Austria's refusal to develop
nuclear power.
Austria focuses on developing hydropower and
renewable energy sources to ensure its energy supply, said Faymann.
However, both prime ministers also expressed
willingness to strengthen cooperation on energy security issues, especially to
enhance information exchange and improve the safety and reliability of Czech's
nuclear power plants.
Besides energy, the two leaders also discussed issues
like transportation and infrastructure construction.
