Hong Kong reports 299 new cases of A/H1N1 flu

    HONG KONG, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong confirmed 299 cases of A/H1N1 flu in the 24 hours to 02:30 p.m. Saturday, with the total number of infections reaching 8,834 in the city, medical authorities said.

    A spokesman from the Center of Health Protection said the new cases involve 143 males and 156 females, aged between six months and 71 years old.

    Meanwhile, the city's Hospital Authority said currently 72 confirmed patients are staying in public hospitals for treatment. Among them, 58 are in stable condition, four in serious and ten in critical condition.
