Latin American countries report more A/H1N1 flu deaths

    MEXICO CITY, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Five Latin American countries reported on Thursday more infections and deaths of A/H1N1 flu, according to reports reaching here.

    The Brazilian Health Ministry reported 14 new deaths of A/H1N1 flu. The country's death toll now exceeds 400. Also, the state of Amazon as reported its first death.

    The Brazilian authorities said that they have confirmed 5,767 cases. Of these, 3,087 were considered grave.

    In Chile, the Health Ministry reported a total of 12,175 confirmed cases on Thursday, including 128 deaths. At the time, it observed "a clear decreasing tendency" across the country.

    Uruguayan Public Health Minister Maria Julia Munoz on Thursday confirmed two new deaths of A/H1N1 flu, raising the death toll to 32 in the country. She did not mention the total number of infections in Uruguay.

    The death toll in Bolivia rose to 19 on Thursday, after Bolivian authorities confirmed the death of a 14-year-old male patient. They did not mention the total number of confirmed cases.

    El Salvador reported a total of 15 deaths of A/H1N1 flu in the country on Thursday, while the total of confirmed cases rose to 717.
