Chinese, Russian World War Two veterans pay respect to martyr's tombs

    BEIJING, Aug. 17 -- Representatives of Russian and Chinese World War Two veterans visited the martyr's tomb Friday in Heihe, northeast China's Heilongjiang province, recalling the passed heroic soldiers and memorizing the 64th anniversary of victory in the War of Resistance against Japan.

    Veterans laid flowers at the tombs to show their respect.

    In memory of the anti-Japan and anti-fascist war, the former Soviet Red Army soldiers delivered speeches to recollect the history and look into the future.

    Veterans expressed their expectation in world peace and the everlasting friendship between Russia and China.

    The monument dedicated to the former Soviet Union Red Army serves as important local base for patriotism and defense education, where various memorial activities are held every year.
