CARACAS Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela and Guatemala have signed an energy
agreement to guarantee Guatemala a daily supply of 20,000 barrels of crude and
refined products, the Venezuelan foreign ministry said Wednesday.
The agreement with Guatemala guarantees the supply of crude oil, refined
products and liquefied natural gas from Venezuela for even 20,000 barrels daily.
The agreement is part of the Petrocaribe alliance launched by Venezuelan
president Hugo Chavez in June 2005, which allows Caribbean nations to buy
185,000 barrels of oil daily.
The Petrocaribe is formed by 18 countries. Guatemala joined the bloc in
2008 in Maracaibo city, western Venezuela.
