Brazil's basketball show brings NBA players to Rio

    RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- A charity game raised by two Brazilian players has brought their NBA teammates to Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

    The "Basketball Show" was played between teams called up respectively by Leandro Barbosa and Anderson Varejao, who invited their friends in the NBA as well as local talent in the Brazilian leagues of basketball.

    Among the players of the United States invited to the game are Drew Gooden (Dallas), Devin Brown (New Orleans), Shawn Marion (Dallas), Keith Bogans (Milwaukee), Danny Granger (Indiana), Amir Johnson (Milwaukee), Ryan Hollins (Minnesota) and Coby Karl (DKV Joventut).

    NBA star Shawn Marion came out the leading scorer with 31 points, followed by Anderson Varejao, the crowd favorite, scoring 30 points as the team "Friends of Leandro" beat the "Friends of Varejao" 116-110.

    All the financial income of the game would be donated to multiple organizations that cater to poor children in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
