Ousted Honduran president's supporter dies from police-inflicted gunshot wound

    TEGUCIGALPA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- A Honduran high school teacher who was shot in the head last week in a protest against the June 28 coup died Saturday in a hospital.

Honduras' interim gov't lifts curfew

    TEGUCIGALPA, July 31 (Xinhua) -- The interim government on Friday lifted a curfew imposed in most of Honduras after a coup that ousted President Manuel Zelaya.

    However, the curfew, imposed since the June 28 coup, was maintained in areas around Honduras' border with Nicaragua to guard against Zelaya's return. Full story

Zelaya's wife returns to capital, joins demonstration

    TEGUCIGALPA, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Wife of ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya returned to the capital Friday and joined a demonstration against the interim government.

    Xiomara Castro had been since June 24 in El Paraiso, east of the country, together with her daughter and other relatives, since the interim government prevented them from crossing the Nicaraguan border to join Zelaya.  Full story

Honduras' interim gov't threats visa cancellation of U.S. diplomats

    TEGUCIGALPA, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Honduras' interim government on Friday threatened taking "reciprocal" measures on the U.S. diplomat officers after the U.S. embassy revoked visas for four Honduras officials.

    The interim Foreign Ministry said "the government ... reserves its right to reciprocally apply the cancellation of visas to the (U.S.) diplomat staff." Full story

Honduran interim government orders border curfew, conflicts erupt in some areas 

    TEGUCIGALPA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Honduras' post-coup interim government on Friday imposed an emergency curfew on the country's southern border with Nicaragua and western border with EL Salvador, apparently aimed at blocking any possible attempt to return by ousted President Manuel Zelaya.

    The curfew at the bordering areas will be from 12:00 a.m. on Friday (1800 GMT) to 06:00 a.m. local time of Saturday (1200 GMT).For the rest of the country the coup will be from 00:00 a.m. (0600GMT) to 06:00 a.m. local time (1200 GMT). Full story

Interim Honduran gov't lifts curfew except in border areas

    TEGUCIGALPA, July 31 (Xinhua) -- The interim Honduran government on Friday decided to lift the curfew imposed in the country since the June 28 coup, except in areas around Honduras' border with Nicaragua.

    Spokesman of the interim government Rene Zepeda said in a TV and radio message that the curfew will continue in El Paraiso in the east, Concepcion de Maria, El Triunfo and Guasaule in the south, from 6 p.m. (0000 GMT) to 6 a.m. (1200 GMT). Full story 

Honduras' border inhabitants demand end of curfew

    TEGUCIGALPA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The Honduran inhabitants of the border area with Nicaragua on Monday demanded authorities to end the curfew imposed last Friday and to allow the passing of goods to supply the local markets.

    The curfew was introduced on Friday when ousted and exiled Honduran President Manuel Zelaya tried for the second time to reenter the country. Full story
