TEGUCIGALPA, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Followers of the ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya began Monday a hunger strike in front of the building of the Professors College of Middle Education from Honduras to demand his immediate return to power.

    A group of people called Isis Obed Murillo group of the People's Front of National Resistance also demanded the halt of the military and police repression in the border with Nicaragua and cities where there are protests.

    In a communique, the group demanded the dissolution of the Congress for being part of skullduggery and for having participated in the coup of June 28.

    The also demanded the installation of a constitutive national assembly to replace the current Congress for it to write a Magna Charta according to the interests of the less privileged sectors to benefit the majority.

    According to the hunger strikers there is no time limit for their strike and they will keep their demands till they are fulfilled.

    Since the coup against Zelaya, his followers have made protests and highway blockings in all the country, leaving economic losses of 150 million U.S. dollars.

    Meanwhile, the police and militaries have dispelled those protesters with tear gas and shoots.
