BANGKOK, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's Ding He won a silver medal in the final taekwondo bout in the men's middle weight of 78-84 kilograms during the First Asian Martial Arts Games here on Monday.

Ding was beaten by Hwang Dae Sung, the competitor from South Korea by 0:2 in the contest at Bangkok's Hua Mark Indoor Stadium.

Ding could not fight in his full capacity, Jing Rui, coach of Ding told Xinhua after the match.

"Ding had lowered his weight for the match, which made him to be worn-out in the final set," Jing said.

Ding, 23, from east China's Jiangsu province, snatched a bronze medal in the Iran Taekwondo Open in 2007.

Earlier Monday, China's Yang Ping won a bronze medal in taekwondo women's middle weight of 67-72 kilograms, the first one for China since the games opened Saturday.

"It is the spirit and courage, not technique and tactic, which are the factors to win the match," Cao Tao, China's Taekwondo team leader said.
