JINAN, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Nine people were killed and two others were seriously injured after a van collided with an engineering truck in east China's Shandong Province Saturday night, a local official told Xinhua Sunday.

    The accident occurred at 11:10 p.m. in Haiyang City, said the spokesman for Haiyang municipal government. He said Altogether 11 people were aboard the two vehicles and nine of them were killed on the spot.

    The spokesman said cause of the accident was under investigation and no other details were immediately available.
