TEGUCIGALPA, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The Honduran police and soldiers Thursday dislodged, with teargas, hundreds of followers of ousted President Manuel Zelaya when they were occupying a highway in Tegucigalpa.

Zelaya's followers were attacked with teargas and gunshots, in a boulevard in El Durazno town.

Zelaya's followers pretended to block the highway to impede the vehicles' and commodities' transit to Cortes Port in the north of the country.

The police published Wednesday a communique saying it will not allow more blocking of highway and occupation of public buildings, so it would use the forces to impede that.

Meanwhile, another group of Zelaya's followers tried to block another highway in Comayagua town in the center of the country.

"There has been an enormous repression at one of the highways blocking, I have been informed that there are detains," local syndicate leader Carlos H. Reyes told local media.

Reyes, who also is independent candidate for the elections on Nov. 29, said that the police and the soldiers used tanks and teargas to expel Zelaya's followers from the place.

Zelaya's followers restarted their fight to demand Zelaya's return to charge, after they left the struggle in the border with Nicaragua.
