BEIJING, July 30 -- Residents of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, it seems, are too generous. They bought rotten vegetables from an old woman just to help her earn some money.

    Sitting beside the vegetables spread out on a sheet on a pavement, Yang, in her 70s, told pedestrians she was retired and had no other means of income.

    A number of passersby bought the smelly groceries from her and chucked them in a nearby bin.
