    KABUL, July 29 (Xinhua) -- An Afghan presidential hopeful Baz Mohammad Kufi on Wednesday quit in favor of sitting President Hamid Karzai and backed him to win reelection.

    "I announce my withdrawal from the race in favour of President Hamid Karzai and call on my supporters to cast their votes for Karzai on election day," Kufi told a news conference.

    He is the second presidential candidates to have withdrew in favour of incumbent Karzai.

    Previous another candidate Mohammad Sayed Hashimi dropped down his candidacy in Karzai's favour last week.

    Earlier, candidate Nasrullah Baryali withdrew in favour of Karzai's challenger Abdullah Abdullah.

    Afghanistan's second presidential election in the post-Taliban country would be held amid tight security on Agust 20.
