MANILA, July 28 (Xinhua) -- A Filipino worker has died of A/H1N1 virus in China's Hong Kong after a month-long battle with the disease, a consulate report said on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old female overseas Filipino worker from Tarlac province was initially diagnosed with severe pneumonia on July 7 and confirmed by Hong Kong health authorities as a "serious" A/H1N1 case four days later, Philippine Consul General to Hong Kong Claro Cristobal said in a report to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.

Doctors put her on a life support system on July 13, but she suffered kidney failure and her condition continued to deteriorate, according to the report.

The Filipina, a household service worker, died Monday afternoon at the United Christian Hospital in Kowloon.

She is survived by her husband and their six-month-old son who reside in the Philippines.

Her husband, who arrived in Hong Kong on July 24, was at the Filipina's bedside at the time of her death.

"At the request of the family, the Consulate will be arranging the speedy repatriation of the remains and ensure that the next-of-kin receive all statutory and insurance benefits in due course," Cristobal said.
