SAN FRANCISCO, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Five police officers in the U.S. city of
San Francisco are suspected of having A/H1N1 flu after one of them was
apparently exposed to the flu virus during a recent trip to Mexico, local media
reported on Monday.
The five all work at San Francisco police department's Northern Station on
Fillmore Street and all the officers believed to have A/H1N1 virus work the same
shift, Capt. Al Casciato, head of the station, was quoted as saying by the San
Francisco Chronicle newspaper.
One of the officers returned from his trip to Mexico last Wednesday, and
two days later he and other officers started showing symptoms. One of the
officers went to the doctor and was tentatively diagnosed with the illness.
Casciato said authorities started a "precautionary cleaning" of the station
over the weekend and patrol cars are also being scrubbed.
The five officers have been told to stay home and must be cleared by the
department's doctor before they can return.
"Right now, everybody is healthy," Casciato said. "The ones who were sick
are feeling better."
